Do you know the four effects of induction hardening?

Time:2023-02-27

1. Skin effect

The skin effect is also known as the surface effect. When direct current passes through a conductor, the current density is equal everywhere on the conductor cross-section. When alternating current passes through the conductor, the current density on the conductor cross-section is small in the middle and large on the surface. When the current frequency is quite high, there may be no current in the center of the conductor, and all current is concentrated on the surface layer of the conductor. This phenomenon is called the surface effect of high-frequency currents.

2. Proximity effect

The distribution of alternating currents within a conductor is affected by alternating currents in neighboring conductors, which is known as the proximity effect.

3. Torus effect

When high-frequency current passes through a toroidal conductor, the maximum current density is distributed on the inside of the toroidal conductor, which is called the torus effect. The essence of the torus effect is the proximity effect of the torus inductor.

4. The notch effect of the magnet

A rectangular section of copper conductor is placed in the notch of the magnet, and when high-frequency current passes through the conductor, the current will only flow through the surface layer at the opening of the magnet, which is called the notch effect of the magnet.
